FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
We teach a diverse range of Yoga and Pilates sessions — including Mat and Reformer, in introductory, beginner, advanced and mixed level classes, we also have a class specifically designed for those navigating the aging process (‘LEGENDS’ Reformer).
We ask all students that are new to Fornham Functional Movement to contact the studio or teacher before booking your first class so that we can ensure that you book the most suitable class for your needs.
We ask people to arrive 15 minutes before class starts, to avoid the disruption and potential exclusion caused by being late. However, for insurance purposes (and as good manners!) please only enter the studio space when your teacher is present.
Wearing comfortable clothing without zips or raised buttons and non-slip ‘grippy’ socks help to ensure the enjoyment of your practice.
Bring water, a towel if necessary and anything else you feel you need to be comfortable. We also ask students to minimise distraction by not bringing digital devices (phones, watches or fitness trackers) into the studio (unless you are a clinician on call or required a diabetic blood sugar monitor). These should be safely left at home or in your car (please note, items left in your car in our car park are done so at your own risk).
We limit class sizes to ensure that students have a quality experience of their practice. Therefore we have a maximum of 12 in the Garden Room for Reformer classes and 10 in the Loft Studio for mat classes.
Feel contact the studio or your teacher ahead of booking your class to ensure that it is still suitable for you. In most cases, modification or adaptions can be made to accommodate your needs. All classes start with an injury/health issue check in, so if you’ve not been able to share in advance, this is your final opportunity to get the support you need before class commences.
We appreciate that traffic and life happens to all of us, but please be considerate and avoid arriving late, which is disrupting and distracting for other students. For this reason, and for safety, teachers have the right to refuse entry to those arriving late. If you know that you are likely to be delayed, please contact the relevant teacher in advance to let explore options.
All classes booked are non-transferable. Please check before you book that you can attend the class selected. In extreme circumstances, please contact the relevant teacher. Unfortunately we are unable to offer cancellations or refunds.
In the unlikely event that your instructor cannot take your class, the studio reserves the right to provide a cover teacher to ensure that your class runs as scheduled. If this isn’t possible, we may email you to cancel the class and transfer your booking to a future date.
Please note – it is not our policy to cancel classes if bookings fall below an attendance threshold – if you book, we teach.
Because our venue hosts a collective of independent specialists we don’t offer a membership subscription — simply quality classes that are limited in size to optimise the student experience and enable our teachers to earn a fair living.
‘LEGENDS’ Reformer is the studio’s most accessible reformer class – developed specifically for those concerned about retaining or regaining flexibility, balance and strength as they age. This is not to silo clients by age, but to honour the fact that the ageing process can present different priorities for a functional movement practice. It also enables us to collaborate with those living with arthritis and joint replacements to ensure that they have full confidence in their practice being safe, inclusive, beneficial and enjoyable.
